Pre-Session: D-Street set for gap-down open amid US, Asia market selloff

Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open lower on April 11, following cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 22,963 earlier this morning.

Market sentiment may also be influenced by the three-month suspension of tariffs on imports from most countries, announced by US President Donald Trump on Wednesday, April 9. This development presents India with an opportunity to accelerate the finalisation of the initial phase of a proposed bilateral trade agreement (BTA) with the US.

On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 74227.08 up by 1089.18 points or by 1.49 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22399.15 down by -136.7 points or by -0.61 %.

On the global front, a gauge of Asian stocks is on track for its third consecutive week of decline as market euphoria turned to angst after the White House clarified US tariffs on China rose to 145%.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 was down 4.55 per cent, South Korea’s Kospi was down 1.66 per cent, and Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 wwas lower by 1.93 per cent.

Wall Street stocks tumbled on Thursday on mounting worries over the economic impact of U.S. President Donald Trump's multi-front tariff war.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1,014.79 points, or 2.50%, to 39,593.66. The S&P 500 lost 188.85 points, or 3.46%, at 5,268.05 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 737.66 points, or 4.31%, to 16,387.31
