Indian benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and Nifty50 dropped at market open on Monday, tracking the deep declines in global markets amid fears of an escalating global trade war on US President Donald Trump's tariff policies.
At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 72565.06 down by -2799.63 points or by -3.71 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22141.75 down by -762.7 points or by -3.33 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 73149.12 and intraday low of 71425.01 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22190 and intraday low of 21743.65
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 126.35,-10.04%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 552.45,-10.00%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1332.30,-6.29%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1243.40,-5.91%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3080.10,-5.50%), among others.
