Market sentiment may remain cautious ahead of the implementation of the 'Liberation Day' reciprocal tariffs set to take effect on April 2, 2025. Investors will also be closely monitoring global market trends, potential trade tariff announcements from US President Donald Trump, and foreign institutional investor (FII) activities for further direction.
On Friday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 77414.92 down by -191.51 points or by -0.25 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23519.35 down by -72.6 points or by -0.31 %.
On the global front, Asian shares rose for the first time in four days with Taiwan Weighted up 1.5 percent and Nikkei rises nearly 0.5 percent.
The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite posted on Monday their worst quarterly performances since 2022, as uncertainty around the Trump administration's economic agenda roiled U.S. equity markets in the first quarter of 2025.
The S&P 500 gained 30.91 points, or 0.55%, to 5,611.85 points, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 417.86 points, or 1%, to 42,001.76. The Nasdaq Composite lost 23.70 points, or 0.14%, to 17,299.29.
