Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open on a negative note on March 26, influenced by signals from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 23,498.50 earlier this morning. The domestic stock markets may face pressure due to weakness in global markets, following US President Donald Trump's announcement of a 25% tariff on all cars not manufactured in the US, effective April 2, with collections beginning the next day.
Additionally, market sentiment could be impacted by the Nifty F&O monthly expiry, foreign institutional investor (FII) activity, and the semi-annual reshuffling of NSE indices.
On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 77288.5 down by -728.69 points or by -0.93 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23486.85 down by -181.8 points or by -0.77 %.
On the global front, Asian equities declined at the open Thursday after President Donald Trump’s latest trade salvo scuppered demand for riskier investments.
Wall Street stocks ended sharply lower on Wednesday, dragged down by losses in Nvidia and Tesla as investors awaited information about long-promised U.S. tariffs on automotive imports.
The S&P 500 declined 1.12% to end the session at 5,712.20 points. The Nasdaq declined 2.04% to 17,899.02 points, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.31% to 42,454.79 points.
