Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open on a positive note on March 20, following cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 23,062 earlier this morning.
The domestic stock markets are likely to be influenced by global trends after the US Federal Reserve opted to maintain its interest rates on Wednesday, amid concerns over slowing economic growth. The Fed kept its policy rate within the 4.25% to 4.50% range but signaled a possible reduction in borrowing costs by half a percentage point by the end of the year.
On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 75449.05 up by 147.79 points or by 0.2 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22907.6 up by 73.3 points or by 0.32 %.
On the global front, Asian stocks rose following a rally on Wall Street after the Federal Reserve signaled it still sees room to cut interest rates later this year because any increase in inflation due to tariffs will be brief.
