The rupee appreciated by 12 paise to 85.86 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday, supported by strong domestic inflows.
Despite the initial gains, forex traders cautioned that factors like rising crude oil prices and liquidity constraints remain potential challenges for the local currency.
At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 85.93 against the greenback before strengthening to 85.86, marking an improvement from its previous close.
