Zinc futures rise on high demand

Zinc prices on Friday rose Rs 3.15 to Rs 274.45 per kilogram in the futures trade amid a pick-up in spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc contracts for March delivery traded higher by Rs 3.15 or 1.16 per cent at Rs 274.45 per kg with a business turnover of 444 lots.

Marketmen said the widening of positions by participants, following a pick-up in demand from consuming industries kept zinc prices higher in the futures trade.
